Chicago through my lens

A few weekends ago my friend Vessie was in town.

We spent a lovely Saturday meandering about Chicago with our cameras, stopping for tea, and feasting on Mexican food.

Weddings were afoot!

Hello wedding party! Do you mind that we’re shamelessly and obviously taking pictures of you?

Look, another wedding party! Wow. Love is exploding all over this city.

The day was hazy and warm–it was the beginning of the end of a cold spring and the beginning of the beginning of a hot summer.

Did that make any sense?

Consider that question rhetorical–in fact, I’ve ceased to associate ‘blogging’ with ‘making sense.’ The two just don’t always go together.

See what I mean?

Anyway, enjoy these shots of a city that 2 years ago I was open to liking, 1 year ago I really liked, and now . . .

. . . I love.

I don’t want to leave.

Excuse me while I go get emotional about missing a city I haven’t left yet and won’t be leaving anyway for at least another 3-4 years.

It’s called ‘pre-nostalgia nostalgia’ and I’ve been known to engage in it from time to time.

  • What a lovely look at Chicago. The time I visited it was the dead of winter, snowy, and cold. Wow, I can't believe how long ago that trip was...nearly 15 years ago.

  • So pretty. I am such a city girl. :-) I love me some beautiful architecture - especially bridges!

  • Gorgeous photos! I get pre-nostalgic nostalgia sometimes too, I totally get it although it sounds crazy. I love your sense of humor!

  • Thank you for the tour, Jenna! I'm glad you brought your camera(s) and had a lovely time, including tea. (Too many "favorite" photos to narrow it down to ONE, so just... GREAT photography, both of you!)

  • I love your pictures....I am looking for a new digital SLR camera and gathering people's opinions on what they are using. Thanks!

    • I'm using a Nikon D5000 that I got (used) from craigslist--I love it. It's not quite professional grade, but I'm fully satisfied with what it can do for this time in my life. =) Hope you find the perfect camera!

  • Nice shots! I really like the b&w one of the bridge (about the 11th one) as I love the perspective :)

  • Jenna, every visit with you turns into a lovely memory :) Thanks for showing me around town and sharing a sliver of your life with me!! And remember, if or when you guys ever leave the big city, there is always a little corner in the south that you *could* just as easily call home. It's called Virginia and it would love to have you ;)
