Maternity photo shoot: Sarah and Tom

I had the awesome privilege of snapping some maternity pictures a few weeks ago for our old college friends, Sarah and Tom. They were already settled in Chicago when we moved here 3 years ago and it’s always fun to see them!

The funny thing is, they live on the South side of the city and we’re pretty far North, so the distance between our places (well over an hour by train, in case you were curious–maybe even approaching 90 minutes) makes it feel like we live in 2 different cities.

So anyway, I was really happy to be able to see them, take some pictures in the Edgewater/Hollywood Beach area, grab some delicious Thai food, and catch up on all things baby.

I leave you with some of my favorite shots!

(side note: do these pictures make anyone else wish they were a redhead? I’m having some serious redhead envy looking through these shots of Sarah’s luscious curls)

  • If there's anything I LOVE starting my morning with, it's maternity or engagement photos. These are lovely! They look so happy, which absolutely made my day.

  • Aw! Sarah and Tom! Fab pictures. And you're right, I am a little envious of the red hair.

  • aww, how fun! and i totally think it's crazy thinking about distances between different parts of big cities... seems like people should be closer, but they aren't. :)

  • Beautiful shots. Great lighting. The both look so happy and the colors are light, fun and airy to match. Great shoot.

  • You seem to find the perfect backgrounds for your subject to stand against. That mosaic looks familiar-did you do some engagement photos in front of it? It's beuatiful. Yes, I've always loved red hair but it took a long time for me to accept that it doesn't look natural on me since my eyebrows are almost black-lol. I dyed it bright red for many years. Sarah's color is much more lovely and natural! You did a great job with their photos, I love them all.

    • YES! You have a great memory (it's not the first time you've remembered something random from a past post). I photographed Jamie and Taylor (for their engagement shoot) in many of the same places. It's so near our apartment, and there are so many cool backgrounds to choose from, so it works out great.
