Here you go, Mom!

For today, a wordless meditation on the joys and obligations of motherhood. These pictures of my cousin June and her daughter Snugs give me a lot of insight into what being a mom means on a practical, day-to-day level.

Do you concur?

  • Nope. Both girls are entirely too gorgeous in those dresses...mom needs to look haggard and child needs to have bedhead and ketchup stains.

    Photos are so charming!

  • I had my nephew with me all day yesterday, and he spent the night, and if being a Mom is as low-key as those beatiful photos, then being an aunt is harder! lol I'm beat.

  • What a wonderful tribute, Jenna, Thank you! And thank you to the above commenters who don't see me as the tired, haggard, mother who needs to get her hair dyed and lose 20 pounds. If I had known you were studying me as a mother so closely, I would have made sure to appear perfect at all times!

    • You're an awesome, classy, beautiful mother who looks great and mothers with energy and enthusiasm. And that's all there is to say about it. =)

  • How I love my family and my exteded family! Lovely pics, Jenna, of your lovely cousin. I hope you'll be posting pics one day of your own beautiful motherhood. :-) Someday!

  • Knowing just what Kitty and Mudpupply mean to Snugs, and knowing just how thoroughy filthy she gets her clothes of a summer's day (or any day when dirt and mud and puddles are available--she is her mother's daughter!--I have to chuckle at the comments while reveling in the beauty of them all. Jenna, you are a marvelous photographer with an eye for people. Thank you for sharing these!

  • Umm yeah that pretty much sums it up! That and "Mom, I'm HUNGRY."

But snugs is just about the cutest thing ever. So I'd hold just about anything for her.

  • The caption on the last photo could read, "Mom! Are ya ready for round three? ... Five? ... Ten?!" This little miss looks like she's coming back for MORE (hugs, smiles, encouragement, love, etc.) -- and that's a wonderful testimony to her Mom.

Way to capture the moment, Jenna!
