Giveaway is now closed!

I used the random number generator to pick a number. I did not count duplicate comments from people, or my own replies, so it was between 1 and 20.

Congrats, my sweet red-headed friend. I’ll be emailing you the code to redeem the print shortly.

Love you all and thanks for participating!

………………………………………………………

Hey guys!

So . . . I don’t think I’ve ever hosted a giveaway. And considering I’ve been blogging for going on 4 years (!?), that’s kind of . . . a crime. So when the folks at Printcopia offered to send me a canvas print in exchange for a product review, and also offered to give my readers the chance to win a free canvas print, I was really excited. I had actually been thinking about getting some family pictures printed anyway, so the timing was perfect.

For my canvas print, I decided to order one of the family pictures that our good friend Zane took of us last November, right after Alice turned 1. Their website is pretty easy to use–basically I just uploaded the image I wanted and chose a color for the wraparound part of the canvas.

It just arrived, and I am super pleased.

Alice helped me investigate.

She was quite thorough.

Here’s how it looks on our bookshelf . . .

. . . and a living room shelf. I’m not sure where to put it yet.

By the way, I love the brick color I picked for the wraparound part of the canvas.

I made the decision to veer away from black or white without being sure if I’d like the results, but I love how it turned out.

The only thing I didn’t like was that I did have to pay extra to include wall mounts. So I paid $1.60 to have that included . . . and then it turns out that they come in a little baggie instead of being already attached to the canvas. I guess not the biggest tragedy in my life. But there you have it.

So now on to the good stuff! Printcopia will give one of you lucky people (U.S. only–sorry to my internationally located friends) a free canvas print the same size as mine, 8×10 (or 10×8–you can change the orientation, as I did). In order to enter, just answer the following question in the comments below:

What do you do to combat the post-Christmas blues? Or do you even get them? If not, what makes you so awesome?

See, I managed to elude the blues until now. I had a trip to Arizona last week to visit my sister Erica after the birth of her new little one, Joshua Richard, and then I was on a women’s retreat for church, so those two big events kept me emotionally propelled forward after the New Year. But now that the excitement is dying down I’m like, “um . . . what? Life? Work? Cooking meals on a regular basis? Huh.”

But enough about my emotional blahitty-blah and back to the giveaway thingy.Β On Monday I will use a random method (TBD) to determine the winner. I will announce the winner here and also contact them by email with the code to redeem their print.

Good luck, my peeps!

What a cute family picture! And the color you picked for the edges pops beautifully. I would love to finally get a wedding picture printed (it’s only been 4.5 years, not too bad, right?).
As for the post-holiday blues, I try in January to revamp my menus so cooking remains exciting. I go a little healthier which helps me feel better!

Post-Christmas blues can be combated with lots and lots of baking … which is immediately followed by post-New Years training! That’s just how it works people …

NOW GIMME ME MY CANVAS PRINT πŸ™‚

    1. Veronica

That is totally my answer too!! Baking fo sho. It’s my therapy. But I kinda skip over the training part. lol Also, having a baby helps. Maybe you should do that again. πŸ™‚

I’ll be honest, I think I watched more Christmas movies after Christmas than I did during the season.

I do love putting photos on canvas!

      That’s a great idea, especially since I haven’t watched “While You Were Sleeping” recently . . . =)

  4. Amanda

I combat the blues with lots of scented candles, lots of cooking, and buying lots of cozy soft socks to wear around my apartment. And spending time with friends is also a big part of that. πŸ™‚

We make a lot of new recipes in the winter. It’s fun to try new things and gives everyone something to look forward to!

We also get outside even when it’s chilly- fresh air helps my attitude like nothing else!

post-Christmas blues? Leave up the GREEN Christmas tree. All year. Works like a charm.

(We DO take off the ornaments after the ’12th day’ of Christmas, but leave the lights on)

  7. Layla

To answer your question… To combat these winter blues my mom and I have been visiting each other since I’m home all day and she’s retired πŸ™‚

Combatting the winter blues – I clean the house after the decorations are down until it’s perfect. (at least in theory). This year, I also changed professions.

I have found you need to continue to plan a few things for January to gradually ease out of the busy Christmas season. Our anniversary is in January so we always have that to look forward to & plan something for. You can be tempted to think you just want a break but really, you can still relax while enjoying a few activities for the New Year!

Baby nesting keeps you too busy to have the blues πŸ˜‰ That and I am sitting in front of my light box as we speak!

I came across your blog when I was 26 weeks pregnant and looking for someone to relate to.. I started reading your blog because you too were Christian in Chicago!

I recognized Giselle – we had worked together in Chicago for Medicina Academy…

    That day I called her..

Now Giselle is my doula and I feel very blessed through finding your blog and her!!!! God’s hands!!!!!!!

I would love to use the canvas to put up a picture of the new 3 to be

Giselle shared some of your story with me, and wow! That is so cool. I wish you all the best Alessandra, and I’m so glad that Giselle is going to be there for you during labor. Praise God for his provision!

Post-Christmas blues? Hmm, I was a little relieved that Christmas was over. So much busyness! πŸ™‚ But- I love getting rid of junk during my now annual 11_ in 1/_. That keeps me busy. I also save some fun books to read. And I always enjoy planning out exactly what to spend my Christmas money on. I’ll take all month or more to figure out just the right purchases. πŸ™‚

post christmas blues? i think i was relieved to be home from all that traveling, and from moving (we moved in october). so i recommend a move before the holidays to get you in the mood to be done with the holidays, if that makes sense πŸ™‚

  13. Jessie

Graham is my post-Christmas-blues antidote! After the craze that is Christmas, we do the New Year’s Eve thing typically with some of our IU (& IV) alum friends πŸ™‚ Then, before I can get into a slump it is time to plan a party and a day of fun for my little man. Keeps me busy…and then February and it’s quiet, “normal days” (whatever those are!) is quite welcome.

What a great family pic of you guys! Alice is just a doll-face! And congrats to Erica!

  14. Julia Menn

I’m just getting into canvas prints thanks to another friend of mine – this is great!

I experienced post xmas blues for the first time this year because I left my sweet little niece behind – and she’s a little older now and we had really bonded. It helped to throw myself into work at my fantastic new job, but the thing that really helped was making plans to travel – around the world and back home for family visits more often. That hope in the future definitely helps me get over the blues of the past. πŸ™‚

  15. Melissa

I love your family picture! This year it felt like we skipped Christmas altogether because of the baby’s arrival, but he’s brought more than enough cuteness to combat any blues. Now if we could just start getting more sleep!

  16. Kate

I love post Christmas because the stress of cleaning and cooking for houseguests is over. It also means basketball season is nearly over (school kids) so less driving. Great time for early pajamas, books and movies! And I adore February when absolutely nothing happens. The one exception is we go to Wisconsin over President’s Weekend for broom ball, cross country skiing, ice skating, tubing, snow shoeing and one night in a water park. Wonderful tradition!
