A study in contrasts

I could write pages and pages about my two grandmothers . . . and maybe I will someday soon. Though both wonderful, both strong, both God-fearing, and both loving, two more different people the world has not seen.

These two pictures illustrate it better than any words of mine could do.

Fascinating. I lost both my grannies when I was 18. Both were grande dames, in their own way, one quietly British, one loudly and brashly American. To this Canadian, they were both a little exotic.

I love the pictures. I have met your Mom’s mother but never met your Dad’s. But, from what I do know of them you definitely choose the right pictures. Very sweet…

I’m guessing neither of your Grandma’s read your blog or you’d be dead right now–lol! This is tooooo funny. I’m actually more surprised by the lower photo. Does your paternal Grandmother REALLY sleep with a doll or did somebody do that to her while she was sleeping?

No, she didn’t sleep with a doll =) –I think this was taken when I was a little girl, since that’s my doll. She was probably playing with us and fell asleep at some point.

Actually, Grandmother #1 does read the blog when I am there to access it for her…. and she LOVES it!! Both Mama Kitty and Big Jake love being referred to, pictured, and generally part of Jenna’s blogging world. They are very proud of their granddaughter’s writing (and everything else) and get great laughs. Grandmother #2 passed away 3 years ago, and although not anywhere near as flamboyant, was thrilled to be able to ‘grandmother’ her granddaughter(s) at every opportunity–which were not many since they lived in Spain. Both women have made for 3 granddaughters getting the best of both worlds!!

The grandma in the orange (Mama Kitty) is living and well! My other grandma pictured below passed away a number of years ago. I wish I could have known her better as an adult–I would have been so interested to hear her life story.

too cute! i love how hip and fun the top grandmother is and how sweet the bottom grandmother is to be playing (although clearly wiped out!) with you and your baby dolls.
